The Brunswick County Democratic Party is committed to protecting our air, coast, water, soil, forests, wetlands, watersheds, and natural resources that make our coastal area special for residents and visitors alike. Therefore, we:
Oppose off-shore drilling which would threaten the livelihoods of our commercial fishing families and tourism industry, both of which are crucial to Brunswick County’s economy.
Demand environmental responsibility for clean air and safe drinking water. We support regulations that prohibit industries from polluting our air, land, and water, and support aggressive prosecution of those who violate these laws.
Support properly funding the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to address our area's GenX pollution issue. Everyone has the right to clean water.
Believe that climate change is real, and that we - individuals, corporations, and government - must do everything possible to stop global warming and the disasters it will cause.
