Brunswick County has a Board of Elections (BOE) staff to be proud of. This year, the BOE is hosting an "Election Education Series" to inform citizens of voting and election processes.
Last year, the board was named one of the country's top 10 Centers for Election Excellence by the nonpartisan U.S. Alliance for Election Excellence. The honor is a recognition that our BOE is committed "to leadership in election administration and looking to develop even more resilient, trustworthy, and voter-centric election administration practices."
In addition, last month our BOE Director, Sara LaVere, was elected President of the North Carolina Association of Directors of Elections (NCADE). She previously served for three years as Treasurer of the association. From the NCADE press release:
As president of NCADE, LaVere will lead the association in its mission to promote the professionalization of election administration across the state. Election administration is a crucial aspect of democracy, and NCADE is committed to ensuring that all election officials have access to the training, resources, and support they need to carry out their duties effectively and efficiently.
In its free series of seminars, the BOE staff is continuing its noteworthy, professional approach to election administration. For more information, check out this recent WWAY3 report on the series, which includes an interview with Director LaVere.
