Gallup’s Labor Day poll brought workers good news: 71% of Americans approve of unions, the most since 1965. Americans understand that unions increase wages and benefits for union and non-union workers alike.
August’s jobs report brought more good news: Biden created nearly 10 million new jobs in 20 months. His record monthly average of nearly 500,000 is more than twice Clinton’s 237,000, nearly three times Reagan’s 170,000. Wages increased. So did the number of workers reentering the job market. Analysts called it a “Goldilocks report.” Just right.
Then there’s Ted Budd and David Rouzer, who bear nothing but bad news for workers.
Baseball’s last perfect game was 10 years ago. It’s been 50 years since Miami’s Dolphins went 17-0. Attaining perfection requires the dedication of a fanatic. So, let’s get a drumroll please, for Budd and Rouzer, who achieved perfect scores from the AFL-CIO in 2021 by voting AGAINST working people 100% of the time!
They voted against every law Biden signed to help workers, including the: Older Workers Discrimination Act; Pregnant Workers Fairness Act; Workplace Violence in Healthcare Act; Paycheck Fairness Act; Protecting the Right to Organize Act and Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. Biden’s historic, bipartisan infrastructure bill created millions of jobs that can’t be outsourced by investing in roads, bridges, rail, clean drinking water, electric grid, and high-speed internet.
Budd and Rouzer? They literally voted to defund the Department of Labor. They continued sabotaging workers in 2022, voting against the CHIPS Act, that will require American companies to make microchips in America, reduce dependence on China, fight inflation, create thousands of good paying manufacturing jobs and over 100,000 construction jobs. Budd and Rouzer would have eliminated those jobs. The good news is, you can eliminate their jobs instead.
North Carolina’s unions back Cheri Beasley and Charles Graham. Support good jobs and workers’ rights. Elect Beasley and Graham on Nov. 8.
