“A woman, her OB/GYN and a local politician walk into an exam room.” If you think that sounds like the setup for a disturbingly tasteless joke, you’re not alone.
Millions of Americans were shocked at Republican senate candidate Mehmet Oz’s answer when asked, “Should abortion be banned in America?”
Oz said he wanted “women, doctors and local political leaders” to decide. Oz lost.
Bo Hines, running for NC’s 13th Congressional seat, wanted rape and incest victims, on a case-by-case basis, to go through a community-level review process to get an abortion. Hines lost.
Thanks to a radical, rigged Supreme Court, Roe v. Wade and the right to privacy are gone. It’s the first time Americans have been stripped of a constitutional right.
The result has been chaos, suffering and cruelty. States like Ohio immediately imposed 6-week abortion bans.
Three days later, a 10-year-old Ohio rape victim, just 6 weeks and 3 days pregnant, was denied an abortion.
Republicans called it “fake news.” When her rapist was charged, proving them wrong, some insisted she be forced to give birth to her rapists’ child!
Since then, two more cases have surfaced concerning Ohio minors, who were raped and denied abortions.
A 14-year-old Arizona girl was refused lifesaving medication simply because she’s of child-bearing age. Cancer patients in Ohio were denied chemotherapy and told to come back when their conditions had deteriorated to the point of death. Women in Wisconsin and Texas have been denied lifesaving care. All because Roe was overturned.
Senator-elect Ted Budd, Congressman David Rouzer and NC District 17 Representative Frank Iler have sponsored legislation that would ban abortion and bring horror stories like these to North Carolina women.
Tell them you don’t want politicians making the most personal decision in your daughter’s life. An examination room is no place for politicians to come between a woman and her doctor.
