In his December 1 letter, Larry Hershoff complained about Democrats’ successful midterm election results. He called voters “turkeys” for believing what he claims are “lies.” Like an ostrich, he refuses to face the following facts:
“House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said if Republicans win control of the House, they will use raising the debt limit as leverage to force spending cuts — which could include cuts to Medicare and Social Security.” (Washington Post, 10/18/2022.)
“GDP Growth under Trump Was the Worst since Hoover.” (Bloomberg.com, 8/2/2021.)
“Trump has become the first president since Herbert Hoover during the Great Depression to depart office with fewer jobs in the country than when he entered.” (ABCNews.go.com, 1/20/2021.)
“The pandemic exposed over a decade of underinvestment in the global commodity supply chain and the vulnerability of ‘just-in-time’ inventories to this sort of supply shock. There is no evidence that, without COVID, we would be facing this “supply shock” induced inflation.” (Forbes.com, 8/23/2021.)
Mr. Hershoff claims Biden’s energy policies caused inflation. But 110 out of 186 countries have higher inflation than the U.S. (Tradingeconomics.com, 12/8/2022.) None have Biden, all have COVID.
And, America’s energy independence has improved. “In 2019, our energy exports were greater than our imports by 0.61 quadrillion BTU’s (quads). In 2021 it grew to a new record of 3.82 quads. By that measure, we are more energy independent than we have ever been.” (Forbes.com, 10/1/2022.)
Voters weren’t “turkeys” for rejecting Republicans like the insultingly unqualified Herschel Walker. Mitch McConnell, Republican Senate Leader, said: “independents looked at us and concluded: too much chaos, too much negativity. We turned off a lot of these centrist voters." Maryland’s Republican Gov. Larry Hogan said “It’s basically the third election in a row that Donald Trump has cost us the race.”
And that was before Trump hosted Nazis and proposed terminating the Constitution.
