BCDP members were heartbroken to hear of the loss of Rob Priddy. We send our deepest condolences to Marilyn and family. Thank you, Dwight Willis, for this dedication to a revered member of our Democratic Party:
Rob Priddy left this world on November 1. Rob was a quiet and unassuming man. He was a wonderful husband to Marilyn for 51 years and a loving and devoted father to his children. His beloved daughter Katie got married just two weekends before he died.
Rob was also a great citizen, a great Democrat, and a loyal friend. Rob and Marilyn moved to Shallotte on Valentine’s Day in 2013 and became active in the BC Democratic Party in 2014. They worked tirelessly on voting rights, civil rights, human rights, women’s issues, LGBTQIA rights, labor rights, and more. They passionately defended our fragile coastal environment and doggedly opposed offshore drilling. They were always there in the middle of every battle, and in every local, state, and federal campaign. Rob was our “numbers” guy who diligently used the data from each election to plan electioneering for the next campaign, and he served as BCDP’s 2nd Vice Chair for several years. When he spoke, we all listened.
Brunswick County has lost a great man. May his memory be a blessing to us all. And, as Rob would say, “Vote Blue.” Eileen Farrell added, “Keep making ‘Good Trouble’ as Rob always did with quiet determination and conviction.”
Makai Brewing Company on Hwy 17 has generously offered the use of their facility for a celebration of Rob's life from 4-7 pm on Friday 11/10/23. Please bring a non-perishable food item for our local pantries and take care of the bartenders. We will have food catered from the adjacent deli.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Habitat for Humanity.
