On Saturday, July 16 at 4:00 PM, the Brunswick County NAACP is hosting a Zoom meeting with Cheri Beasley. Justice Beasley is running for the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Richard Burr. Learn more and register here: Beasley Zoom Meeting
Two Democratic judges running for the NC Court of Appeals will be in attendance as well: Judge Gale Murray Adams and Judge Darren Jackson.
When you vote, Don't Forget the Judges!
Cheri Beasley's opponent is gun store owner and supporter of the Big Lie, Ted Budd. Budd is currently in the U.S. House of Representatives. He voted, along with our District 7 Congressman David Rouzer, to overturn election results for President Biden.
A new Fox 8 report reveals that Ted Budd took a series of “lavish trips paid for by his benefactor Club for Growth" throughout his time in Washington, DC. Totaling over $30,000, the vacations included “posh” resorts that cost a minimum of $900 a night – representing “contrasting images” to the “small-town guy” he portrays on the campaign trail.
From the Brunswick County NAACP Website:
As a public defender, a judge, and eventually, the first African American woman to serve as Chief Justice of the NC Supreme Court, Cheri worked every day to keep communities safe, protect the law, and defend our constitutional rights.
As Chief Justice, Cheri helped to create the first human trafficking court.
She created a family leave policy for more than 6,000 court employees to help people take care of their families and succeed at their jobs.
And she worked with law enforcement to take on the school-to-prison pipeline and keep kids in the classroom and out of the courtroom.
Cheri has been tested. And she knows what it will take to win, because she’s the only candidate in this race who has won statewide—twice. And in 2020, she earned 11,000 more votes than the president and 125,000 more than the Democratic Senate candidate, leaning on strength with both suburban and urban voters. That’s why she’s outraised every other candidate every single quarter with support from all 100 counties in North Carolina. That’s why she’s earned support from over 200 leaders, including Governor Cooper and key organizations like the NC State AFL-CIO. We can trust that Cheri will be the kind of leader we need in the Senate: a true and independent voice for North Carolina who will always put the people first. Find out more about Cheri Beasley here.
